Leprosy doctor checks potential child leprosy patient on symptoms of leprosy

In our fight against leprosy, we have initiated four Priority Programmes to direct our work. These are in line with the Global Leprosy Strategy of the World Health Organization and the Triple Zero campaign of the International Federation of Anti-Leprosy Associations. They also contribute towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

Our priority programmes

Our four priority programmes direct our fight against leprosy and exclusion due to disabilities.

A close contact of a leprosy patient takes preventative medication against leprosy

Stop transmission of leprosy

Leprosy can only be eliminated if we prevent people from getting leprosy and if we stop the transmission of the leprosy bacteria.

Combined approaches to prevention and management of disability

Leprosy shares many symptoms with other neglected tropical diseases and diseases causing nerve damage. Combined approaches help tackle disability more effectively.

Disability-inclusive development

People living with disabilities caused by leprosy and other diseases fully and actively participate in society thanks to our disability-inclusive development initiatives.

Reduction of stigma and discrimination

We pay special attention to social inclusion in all our work. In everything we do, we fight stigma and discrimination.

We conduct ground-breaking scientific research

We produce innovative solutions and deliver evidence-based programmes that strenghten the fight against leprosy.
