Disability-inclusive development
Our disability-inclusive development initiatives aim to ensure that persons with disabilities, caused by leprosy and other diseases, can fully and actively participate in society on an equal basis.
Participation in Disabled People’s Organisations
Under our Priority Programme, an important mechanism for inclusion is participation in Disabled People’s Organisations. We work on and advocate ways to promote participation of people with leprosy-related disabilities in DPOs and to include their needs to make sure they can enjoy all their rights.
Working on Disability-Friendly Communities
We are working in all 5 NLR country programs on Disability-Friendly Communities, a model inspired on NLRs experiences in Nepal. Here, all relevant stakeholders become responsible and accountable for fulfilling the rights of persons with disabilities (including those disabled by leprosy) as provisioned in laws, policies, and programmes.
