Municipalities in Nepal and NLRMultiply Funds for Inclusive Development
Thanks to NLR Nepal’s continuous efforts, nine municipalities in Province 1 and Province 7, have agreed to match the funds NLR invests in inclusive development in these areas. People with a disability are now fully integrated in the general development strategy of the local government.
The collective budget made available for services to improve inclusion and health in these municipalities will make a large impact on people’s lives. The public health services will be better funded and more attention will be made by the public sector to include people with a disability and affected by leprosy into society.
Inclusive programme
NLR Nepal has been able to create strong linkages with these municipalities to co-create the package programme ‘Inclusive Development’, which contains seven different components designed for holistic development. The package programme is now being initiated also with government resources.
NLR Nepal
In preparation for the package programme, NLR’s Field Coordinators provide municipality focal points with orientation programmes to the assigned for disease control. Following these orientation programmes, municipalities with willingness to work on Inclusive Development, approached NLR Nepal to further discuss and implement the programme.
