Diah Fita Sari
Diah Fita Sari is based in Surabaya, Indonesia and works for NLR as a project coordinator of PEP++ Indonesia as well as a technical advisor for leprosy. She is a medical doctor with a master’s degree in International Public Health.
My hope is that some day people will perceive leprosy more positively, and that stigma and discrimination will belong to the past
“I work for NLR because I have been gripped by leprosy and its consequences. In Indonesia, most doctors think the disease no longer exists. Even after having achieved elimination status, however, the problem of stigma remains in communities. This causes a continued burden for those suffering from leprosy. The situation drives me to discover how we can diagnose leprosy at a very early stage and prevent physical, social, and economic consequences.”
